A reader wrote in to ask about the specific bill numbers of the Democrats’ big health care legislation, which prompted an inquiry by a senior Times editor; which led to a question for Tania Gabrielle: is there any particular numerological significance to the bill numbers which, for the record, are H.R. 3590 for the Senate-passed measure and H.R. 4872 for the budget reconciliation measure that will include the final health care revisions?
Two of her conclusions: “There will be emotional egos on the line with the passage of this bill.” And: “Representatives know some of them will lose their seat as a result of their vote.”
